VueScan 64-bit is a scanning program that works with most high-quality flatbed and film scanners to produce scans that have color fidelity and color balance. Its very easy to use, and also has advanced features for restoring faded colors, batch scanning and other features used by professional photographers.

VueScan is an excellent alternative for those users who need a software to control the scanner, because this lite program is compatible with more than 500 models. Furthermore, VueScan can be also used to download images from more than 200 digital camera models, so we will be able to use just one program to edit the pictures we import from other devices. VueScan is very easy to use, thanks to an intuitive interface which will ease your work. It will guide you step by step to capture and save the pictures from the scanner. VueScan includes some edition functions, so we will capture and modify the pictures we import from the scanner. Of course, you can choose the image quality you want.

Is where the software is found. VueScan worked until I installed Windows 10 Home 64-bit version 1709. The scanner is on a Brother MFC-9340CDW printer, running under WiFi. When I open VueScan, it reports that it cannot find the scanner, and the Windows 10 apps module in Settings reports that VueScan is unavailable. VueScan's author asked me to check mDNS and firewall; mDNS is only used forMACs, according to the Brother software manual, and disabling Comodo firewall made no difference. I tried scanning through AllMyMovies, which scans covers for entering into entries in the catalog as does AllMyBooks; scanner works there. I had a sort of similar issue after updating to Fall Creators Update. I use an older version of Photoshop (CS 2003), and after updating to FCU Photoshop would not find the native Twain driver for my scanner. My scanner is the CanoScan 8800F. Photoshop would only find the WIA, however I needed the Twain so I could use my scanner's much better native GUI. The only thing that worked for me was to set the compatibility of my older Photoshop to Windows XP (Service Pack 3). After I did that Photoshop recognized the native Twain driver for my scanner. That is the only thing that worked.

I realize that my above info may not help your situation, but in the meantime give NAPS2 a try. If that works then it is obvious that VueScan has to be updated to be compatible with your printer/scanner and FCU. I tried three compatibility settings for VueScan, none of which worked. Out of curiosity, I then downloaded its 32-bit version, which claimed that it could not install, but clicking on its desktop icon started it; not surprisingly, that the same error as the 64-bit version. I suspect that the install error was because the program could not, while being installed, find the scanner. I installed NAPS2, and quickly set up a profile and did a preview scan, using the Brother printer's TWAIN, which NAPS2 had no problem finding.
